Booking & Tickets

How do I book tickets?

Tickets can be booked online via this See It Live website, by phone through the Box Office on (07) 4927 4111, or in person at the Box Office (subject to opening hours). Please note fees apply for online and phone bookings.

How do I access my tickets?

Your tickets are emailed to your registered email address automatically at the time of booking. Please check your junk/others folder and look out for “See It Live” in the subject.

You can also access your tickets anytime by visiting www.seeitlive.com.au, selecting “My Account” from the top-right of the window, and logging in to view your Ticket List.

When arriving at the theatre you may:

  • Present your tickets on your phone or device
  • Bring a printed copy
  • Collect a printed copy from the Box Office if needed

Is there a seating plan?

If you buy your tickets online you will see a live seating plan for your selected performance, showing available and sold seating.

You can download a standard seating plan for the Pilbeam Theatre here.(PDF, 2MB)

Please note that this downloadable seating plan does not show available seating for a particular performance. Sometimes there will be changes to the plan to accommodate technical and performance requirements.

Can I choose my seat?

Yes. Pilbeam Theatre tickets are usually allocated seating, although for some events may be general admission.

Allocated seating means you choose specific seats at the time of purchasing your tickets and these are printed on your ticket, such as D13. You sit only in the seat allocated on your ticket.

If your ticket says General Admission (or GA) with a number after it, this means the performance is general admission and you can sit anywhere in the auditorium. The best seats are usually taken by the first people through the door, so arriving early is important in this situation.

If you need help choosing accessible seating or wish to discuss seating options that will be most suitable for you, please contact the Box Office.

Wheelchair spaces and companion seats (Companion Cards are accepted) can only be booked direct through the Box Office, not available online.

Is there dedicated wheelchair seating?

There are a number of wheelchair seats available for performances at the Pilbeam Theatre. These must be booked directly through the Box Office, not online. Please call 07 4927 4111 for assistance.

Are tickets refundable or transferable?

Please choose carefully when buying tickets as tickets are non-refundable, except where required under the Live Performance Australia (LPA) Ticketing Code of Practice. If a refund or exchange is approved under the Code, fees may apply.

Tickets are also non-exchangeable to a different event. Should you wish to exchange your seating to the same event, if permitted (subject to availability), per ticket fees will apply.

All tickets are sold in accordance with the LPA Ticketing Code of Practice, which you can view at:  liveperformance.com.au

What are the ticketing terms and conditions?

A copy of the Ticketing terms and conditions can be found here or when you are purchasing your ticket.

Can I buy tickets through other websites?

No. Tickets are sold on behalf of the organisation responsible for performances and events within the Pilbeam Theatre. The Pilbeam Box Office and the website www.seeitlive.com.au are the only official sellers for tickets at this venue.

UNAUTHORISED TICKETS

Thinking of buying a ticket via Gumtree, ebay, Viagogo, Ticket merchant or other websites? You need to read this.

The only way to buy tickets to shows at the Pilbeam Theatre is via this website, in person at our Box Office, or by phone on 4927 4111.

If you buy a ticket from an unauthorised seller you run the risk of being sold unauthorised, invalid or overpriced tickets.

Buying through anyone other than the authorised ticket seller puts you at the mercy of scammers. You may be buying a forged ticket or the scammer may be selling the same ticket multiple times. The end result is that you will have lost your money and you won’t be able to get in to see the performance.

The Pilbeam Theatre Box Office, and its website seeitlive.com.au (and ticketing provider SeatAdvisor) are the only authorised ticket seller for events at the Pilbeam Theatre. If you are uncertain when buying tickets online, check the URL (web address) in your browser. It will either display seeitlive.com.au or sa2.seatadvisor.com/sabo.

Tickets are sold by the venue, as the authorised seller.  Tickets purchased from websites such as Viagogo, Gumtree and ebay may be invalid and entry to the event may be refused.

If you are unable to attend an event, you should contact the Pilbeam Theatre on 4927 4111 as soon as possible. We will try to resell your ticket/s through our box office, although no guarantees can be given. Contact the Box Office on 4927 4111 for more details

Before You Arrive

Are there dress standards?

There are no strict dress standards at the theatre. While some people take the opportunity to dress up, a tuxedo or evening gown isn’t necessary. Smart casual is probably the best advice (but no thongs, please!).

Where can I park?

Free parking is available behind the theatre which is accessible via Bolsover Street and Quay Lane (off Cambridge Street). This car park can cater for a large number of vehicles, however with some very popular shows, it may become full quite quickly.

There are plenty of on-street car parks available in the area, but do allow time to then walk to the venue.

HOT TIP! We recommend allowing extra travel and parking time for sold‑out, school shows, eisteddfods or popular children’s events.

Is there accessible parking and venue access?

Yes there are accessible parks close to the theatre including:

  • Two accessible parking spaces are located in the carpark behind the theatre (accessible via Bolsover Street and Cambridge Street through Quay Lane). Ramp access into the theatre from here is available between the old art gallery and the theatre.
  • Two accessible parking spaces are located on Cambridge Street near the loading zone with a ramp into the theatre.

A lift is also available to patrons with a disability to gain access to the Box Office foyer. Unfortunately at this stage, there is no lift to the upper level of the theatre, this is only accessible via stairs.

Is there a passenger drop-off zone?

There are loading zones in Cambridge Street, Quay Lane and Victoria Parade for passenger drop-offs.

When should I arrive at the theatre?

Doors to the Pilbeam Theatre auditorium usually open about 20 minutes before the advertised commencement, but arriving at the theatre before then is probably a good idea (the bar, candy bar and Box Office are open from 90 minutes before the start time).

If you haven’t bought your tickets, there may be a queue at the Box Office, so allow some time for this.

Performances start promptly at the advertised starting time, so make sure you arrive in enough time to be seated – latecomers may not be admitted into the auditorium until a suitable break in the performance so they do not disturb other patrons or performers.

What time do doors open?

Box Office opens 90 minutes prior to the performance.

Bar & Candy Bar are open 60 minutes prior.  A great time to pre-order your interval drinks and snacks!

For most performances the Auditorium doors will open 30 minutes before the event starts (this can vary though so please listen out for the foyer bells and announcements).

Can I bring my camera into the theatre?

No. The use of cameras, mobile phone cameras or any video or sound recording devices is illegal and penalties for infringement of copyright are severe.

When does the bar and candy bar open?

The Bar and Candy Bar open 60 minutes prior to a performance and are staffed by volunteers from The Friends of the Theatre.

On arrival at the theatre or at interval you can relax with a drink from bar with a selection of beers, wines, pre-mixed drinks, coffee and tea.

Pre-ordering your interval drinks will save you time at interval. Ask the door or bar staff about this service on arrival.

The Candy Bar has a selection of sweet and savoury snacks along with softdrink and water.

Vending machines are also available in the foyer providing cold drinks and a range of snacks.

Please note the theatre does not have restaurant on site, however there are several restaurants within easy walking distance of the venue. Visit explorerockhampton.com.au for local dining options.

Is smoking/vaping permitted?

Smoking/vaping is not allowed in any part of the Pilbeam Theatre or other Council venues, and not within 4 metres of any building entrance.

During the Performance

What happens if I arrive late?

Late arrivals will be admitted only at an appropriate break in the performance by staff at your door. Due to the nature of some performances you may be directed to vacant seats at the back of the audience to minimise disruption and then be able to take up you allocated seats during interval. Our front-of-house staff will guide you when it is suitable to enter. We thank you for your cooperation.

Can I take food and drinks into the auditorium?

Drinks and snacks may be taken into the auditorium, but no glassware is permitted. Drinks will be transferred into plastic cups as needed.

Please note: the Pilbeam Theatre is a licensed venue, and no BYO alcohol is allowed.

How do I get to my allocated seat?

Your ticket will mention which door you should use to enter the auditorium. Front-of-house staff will greet and direct you to your seat row.

Use the appropriate walkways and aisles to get to your allocated seat. Please respect the furnishings and patrons around you and refrain from climbing over seats.

If you are already seated, please stand to let others pass being mindful that the seats flip up when not being used.

Are there intervals during performances?

Some performances include an interval, while others run straight through. Interval information is listed on individual event pages where applicable or advised in your pre-event email.

What happens during an interval?

During intervals, patrons may:

  • Purchase refreshments from the Bar and Candy Bar or pick up your pre-orders (no waiting in line)
  • Use bathroom facilities
  • Step outside the auditorium

A call bell and announcement will sound 5 and 2 minutes before the performance recommences.

Can I leave and re-enter the auditorium?

Re‑entry during a performance may be restricted. Front‑of‑house staff will advise the best time to return to your seat to minimise disruption.
