Since 2016 they have been handcrafting costumes, props and puppets and to date has made close to 500 costumes/props. Jordy’s passion for costume creation started as a small child sewing her own dance costumes with her grandmother.

Q&A

What do you love about your craft?

I love that there is so much diversity and problem solving within this field. My costume making ethos happens to be “Making the impossible, wearable”. There is such a special magic to creating a physical and believable puppet/costume. I absolutely love seeing how audience interacts with my work. I get to see the audience totally buy into the magic even if they don’t mean to.

What attracted you to apply for this role?

Frozen is such a special production to me, it really helped foster my love for cause creation when the movie first came out. When the Broadway show started, I was blown away by the way the non-human characters were brought to life. I had always wondered how they were made and debated making them myself for the past few years. When I saw the opportunity to not only make the puppets locally but get to see them come to life on a stage that has been such a keystone for me as a performer, I couldn't help but apply.
