Applications Open for 2026 Carols by Candlelight Fundraising Recipient

Local charitable organisations are invited to apply to become the fundraising recipient of the 2026 Carols by Candlelight, with funding generated through the annual community event supporting a specific project or purchase that benefits people in the Rockhampton region.
Each year, Rockhampton Regional Council partners with a local charitable organisation, providing an opportunity to receive proceeds raised through the Carols by Candlelight events while also showcasing the important work being undertaken within the community. Council aims to support a diverse range of organisations over time, ensuring funding reaches services that make a meaningful difference to local residents.
The selected organisation will receive funding to undertake a clearly defined activity or purchase, with successful projects scheduled to commence in 2027 following the distribution of funds after the December 2026 event.
To be eligible, applicants must be registered, incorporated not-for-profit organisations that are based in Rockhampton or provide services to people in Rockhampton and surrounding areas. Organisations must also provide relief and assistance to disadvantaged people within the Rockhampton Region.
Applications will be assessed on several criteria, including the organisation's purpose and activities, the project proposed for funding, and its capacity to recruit volunteers to assist during the event.
As part of the partnership, the successful recipient will work closely with event organisers and contribute to the delivery of Carols by Candlelight by recruiting between 10 and 20 volunteers to assist with donation collection and event operations. The organisation will also be given an opportunity to address audiences during the event and share information about its services and community impact.
The selected fundraising recipient must be available to participate in the indoor ticketed Carols by Candlelight events at Pilbeam Theatre on Friday, 11 December and Saturday, 12 December 2026.
