Symphony of Space

As restrictions ease, the capacity permitted inside the Pilbeam Theatre auditorium has increased. This makes it harder to maintain physical distancing in our foyer spaces. Patrons are encouraged to wear a mask while entering and exiting the auditorium, and moving through the foyers. This is not compulsory but recommended by Queensland Health. Regular cleaning of all surfaces and touch points is still being undertaken, and hand sanitiser is available throughout the building for patrons use.

The Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra takes flight to discover the depths of the universe under the baton of guest conductor, John Foster - trumpet virtuoso and Musical Director of Queensland Baroque and Australian Baroque Brass.
In a musical journey from Earth to the planets beyond, the Orchestra will present a diverse and exciting range of pieces. Classical stallwarts such as Jupiter and Mars from Gustav Holst’s The Planet Suite and Also Sprach Zarathustra of Strauss (known as the iconic music from 2001: A Space Odyssey) will stand proud alongside popular TV and movie selections including ET, Star Trek, Star Wars and Apollo 13.
The Orchestra features a wealth of local talent, with 50 classical musicians appearing on stage for this epic event.
This project is supported by Rockhampton Regional Council and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and the Regional Arts Development Fund. We thank our generous sponsors Triple M and The Capricornian.
