Are your students ready to tread the boards in Rockhampton Regional Council’s Bard Awards this year?

The Bard Awards 2022 are now open for applications from young people in years 7 to 12.

This is a great opportunity for students to either develop and perfect a performance piece from their school curriculum, or prepare a free-choice dramatic work with their teacher or extra-curricular speech and drama tutor.

An initiative of Rockhampton Regional Council, The Bard Awards is an opportunity for students to perform a dramatic work, and receive professional advice and assistance along the way.

While the term ‘bard’ is often used to refer to William Shakespeare, the competition will cover the wider definition, ‘story teller / poet.’

Entries, by individuals, duos or groups, can be a performance of a traditional or contemporary published monologue, duologue or group scene.

Students will perform before an adjudicator at the Pilbeam Theatre on Sunday 9 October 2022. Winners will receive awards and feedback will be provided.

Entries are now open. More information, including full rules and requirements and online entry forms are available below.

Entrants will also be able to attend free workshops, to be held in the leadup to the event.
