Casual Camping  and spelling of livestock at Rockhampton Showgrounds
The Rockhampton Showgrounds no longer offers casual camping on its grounds for travellers who need to stable and spell horses and other livestock. There are two alternative venues in Rockhampton Region that do offer this service:
The Caves Showgrounds Contact Keith on 4934 2670.
Gracemere Saleyards Contact Phil on 4931 7300 or 0488 580 730

Fast becoming the metropolitan capital of Central Queensland, Rockhampton has truly come of age and offers the advantages of city living, along with a vibrant events culture and commercial heart that pump energy into the whole Region.

The Rockhampton Region’s events calendar is a dynamic and exciting part of community life, creating jobs and business, attracting tourists and fuelling growth. There are significant spin-offs from our Region's many events, bringing about a real sense of pride for our community.

Rockhampton has many quality venues which, added to a world-class airport that handles 742,238 passengers each year, and the tourism drawcard of both the Capricorn Coast and the outback, combine to make Rockhampton the perfect event destination.

Rockhampton Regional Council took over the management role of the Rockhampton Showgrounds in November 2002. With more than 40 different events, functions and meetings taking place on the grounds each year, the Rockhampton Showgrounds are one of our most-used facilities.

Excitement builds each year about Rockhampton’s dynamic events program and the Rockhampton Showgrounds also hosts regular signature events like the Rockhampton Show, which is held annually in June and entertains up to 30,000 people over three days of activities and exhibitions; Beef Australia, a major exhibition held every three years; the Queensland Resources Expo (QREX), held every two years; and the famous Rocky Swap.

The showgrounds newest complex, the Robert Schwarten Pavilion, is complete and is a versatile addition to the existing facilities on the grounds. The Robert Schwarten Pavilion will provide a meeting environment that offers the full range of convention centre business activities including meetings, functions, banquets, luncheons, exhibitions and entertainment. The large covered and enclosed space is suitable for major conferences and conventions.

The Rockhampton Region continues to offer an exciting range of festivals, concerts, sporting events, exhibitions and other activities right throughout the year.
